Get ready, runners and spectators alike - the Porthcawl 10K is back! Taking place on Sunday 6th July 2025, this gorgeous coastal race has earned its place as a must-do event on the South Wales running scene.
A race with history and heart
Launched in 2019, the Porthcawl 10K route was devised by Olympic marathon legend and Porthcawl local, Steve Brace. The race was designed to celebrate the best of Porthcawl’s iconic seafront and attracts thousands of visitors from afar, as well as being a favourite for many local runners.
Think structured routes (flat to undulating, with closed roads and great pacer support), spectacular seaside scenery and fantastic community spirit (from live music to cheering crowds - the atmosphere is electric!).
With family-friendly races to complement the main race, there’s something for every runner - whether it’s a PB for a budding athlete in the junior races, or first-ever racing step in the toddler dash.
A record-breaking year
This year’s event, sponsored by Brecon Carreg Water, is set to see its biggest participation numbers yet - with a record 6,200 runners signed up across all races, and the 10K race places selling out a month before race day.
A beautiful course to take on
Prepare for a scenic treat if you’re taking part in this year’s Porthcawl 10K! The race starts on the Harbourside (Eastern Promenade) before taking in these picturesque hot-spots:
Newton - the quaint village green and stunning seaside
Trecco Bay Holiday Park and Coney Beach Pleasure Park - with plenty of support along the way
Trecco Bay and Sandy Bay, home to a Blue-Flag beach and fairground fun
Porthcawl’s charming town centre - passing through the variety of shops and business on John Street
Rest Bay - a surfers haven with spectacular views
Runners will also get the chance to cross the finish line on Porthcawl’s beautiful seafront among local attractions such as the historic Grand Pavilion Theatre and iconic lighthouse, as well as the Blue-Flag awarded Marina.
Family-Friendly Fun
The Porthcawl 10K is more than just a race! There’s a welcoming event village, Fun Run, Future Challenger Race, and even a Toddler Dash - ideal for getting the whole family involved. This inclusive route also welcomes athletes with health issues, disabilities or accessibility needs, find out more here.
