Between The Trees Festival at Merthyr Mawr Warren National Nature Rese

Between The Trees Festival aims to reconnect people of all ages with the natural world. It blends the enjoyment of contemporary folk music with nature, science and art. So, it’s far more than just a music festival, it’s an “encounter with nature” and an opportunity to relax and feel refreshed by the wonderful, restorative qualities of a woodland environment. From small beginnings, the festival has now developed into an established, stand-alone, boutique folk festival set is a beautiful woodland by the sea at Candleston Castle Campsite, Merthyr Mawr, South Wales. Uniquely, festival-goers get the opportunity to pitch their tents under the forest canopy. The festival has spoken word, informative talks and workshops e.g. watercolour painting, pottery, bushcraft skills, willow weaving and wood carving.
The natural science element of the festival takes place in a dedicated area called Wallace’s Wood. Here, people are able to use microscopes to view plant and animal life close-up and listen to talks and debates about biodiversity, sustainability and conservation. We have speakers from several universities, Natural Resources Wales, The Wildlife Trust, The Woodland Trust, Dark Sky Wales and many others.
