Glamorgan History walks - Bridgend- Yr Hen Bont - Newcastle

Bridgend is built on a crossing point on the river Ogmore. It is first mentioned in a document dated 1444 but its history stretches back to the Dark Ages. Its old and “new” castles are testament to its strategic value throughout the medieval period. A story which continues with the building of its 15th Century bridge and the routing of the Glamorgan Turnpike through it in the 19th Century. On this walk we uncover all the places and buildings hidden in plain site that tell the story of this fascinating old town.
